Job Description

Position Purpose 

This position is responsible for the negotiation and sourcing of Aftermarket Military parts, Attachments, and Attachment-related parts from suppliers located in the Americas. Working closely within our Global Parts purchasing organization to meet the needs of the company from a quality and cost perspective.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities 

• To manage existing suppliers, by controlling costs, lead-times and supplier performance.

• To work with our Global Purchasing organization to look for new sources of supply specifically within the Americas.

• Accept purchasing responsibilities for the Aftermarket supply of attachments and attachment related parts.

• To support the Military new part introduction process, working closely with production purchasing and engineering.

• To contribute to the overall strategic goals of the N.A. Parts Operations specifically relating to Inventory, availability, quality and cost.

• To support the Military Operational team as required by resolving issues on individual parts.

• To negotiate and prepare contracts as required.

• All quotes related to G&D reporting requirements to Military

• Maintain the G&D pricing spreadsheet in conjunction with G&D contract manager.

• Requirement to work flexibly within a small busy team, including covering holidays as required.

• To assist in ensuring the Company conforms with all policies and meets the high standards demanded and its Suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5 years strategic purchasing experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business with 3 years strategic purchasing experience

• Experience of 7+ years strategic purchasing with accreditations or certificates

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel: Advanced Level) applications and ERP Purchasing system (preferably SAP)

• Demonstrated ability to delegate and manage tasks issued to independent reports such as suppliers and cross functional team members

• Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management

• Skilled in project management, reporting and presenting information, and statistical analysis

• Practiced in negotiations and conflict resolution

• Ability to read and interpret bill of materials, engineering drawings, standards and specifications

• Experience with the product development and NPI process from ‘Concept’ to ‘Production Release’ (ISIR/PPAP)

• Knowledge of industrial and quality principles, including: process layout, standard operating procedures, SPC (Cpk, Cmk, Ppk), PFMEA, Lean Six Sigma, APQP, 5S, ISO TS16949, ISO 14000, Kaizen, etc.

• Knowledge of product costing, accounting in a manufacturing environment, commodity pricing and foreign currencies

• Knowledge of international trade requirements for importing and exporting products, INCO terms

• Understanding of implications and challenges related to domestic and international sourcing

• Experience with standard practices, legal requirements and international purchasing terms and conditions

• Autonomous and entrepreneurial work ethic

• Knowledge of supply chain, materials management, and road/ocean freight

• Ability to take direction well and work with minimal supervision

• Must pass any drug screens, background checks and any pre-employments tests as applicable.
