General Manager - Reports To: President and COO ______________________________________________________________________________

 

Position Summary: The General Manager is a born leader, expert communicator with a strong ability to delegate responsibility, able to collaborate across a range of departments and functions and who provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, reporting procedures, and optimized talent in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure operating efficiency in a safe environment.

 

  • This position directly reports to the President and functionally to the Group headquarters in Spain. This position focuses on efficient organization and continuous improvement of management process and cost control with a strong customer focus (internal and external).
  • The General Manager is responsible for leading and directly overseeing all manufacturing and warehouse activities of The Company.
  • This role includes developing and maintaining reliable processes that are cost-effective and that support the short and long-term business objectives of The Group.
  • This role also requires a reliable and competent professional who possesses the ability to work well with other Group employees regardless of role or department and work well with the Sales organizations of The Group.
  • Position focuses on efficient organization and continuous improvement of management process and cost control with a strong customer focus (external and internal).

 

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the successful operation of the Company from demand and resource planning, sourcing of components, and plant scheduling through the order execution and shipments to customers to ensure effective management and growth on a profitable basis consistent with established objectives and goals 
  • Develop and maintain an effective and efficient team through selection, training and motivation of all personnel including compensation program proposals 
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for optimized productivity. 
  • Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes, overseeing employees, establishing a highly motivational work environment and implementing innovative changes. Ensure all established costs, quality and delivery commitments are met
  • Direct all facets of manufacturing including scheduling, efficiencies of manufacturing, personnel requirements, shipping and receiving, quality, safety and environment.
  • Lead by example the daily operations, assuring that customer expectations are consistently satisfied, that products and services always meet the quality specifications, and that all resources are fully utilized to provide cost-effective products and service 
  • Use a hands-on, operational approach; including performing operational analysis and other data organization and compilation as required
  • Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge and skill areas
  • Develop, implement and maintain budgetary and resource allocation plans. Analyze deviations, develop and follow the appropriate KPIs, and prepare the annual budget for the area of responsibility 
  • Develop and establish short term and long term goals and objectives consistent with overall profit and growth objectives
  • Accomplish short-range and long-range goals and objectives through delegation, utilization of resources and effective motivation techniques
  • Ensure proper instruction and training and improve the abilities, skills and knowledge of all Manufacturing and Distribution personnel
  • Delegate responsibilities to the best-qualified employees and enforce all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, training programs and cultural values
  • Communicate the status of all business conditions affecting the Manufacturing Organization
  • Develop effective and productive relationships with all functions within the organization and with employees of the parent company
  • Resolve internal staff conflicts efficiently and to the mutual benefit of all involved
  • Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished effectively
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, policies and regulations
  • Ensure Human Resources enhances and promotes a positive workplace environment along with recruiting, developing and retaining a high performing and high achieving team
  • Ensure that work procedures for all items are created and maintained and that bills of material are kept up-to-date, coordinate Operations and Supply Chain activities such that products and components are available to be manufactured on schedule within quality standards and cost objectives while ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity and on-time shipments
  • Lead implementations of operational improvements including new processes and procedures related to the ERP system Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:
  • Solid foundation in operations management. Accepts accountability for the need to consistently achieve targeted goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and staff at various organizational levels
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and sense of urgency
  • Ability to provide strong leadership to the management team and build confidence – should be a clear, strategic thinker with a willingness to take a more hands-on, operational approach where appropriate
  • Excellent oral/written communication, presentation and listening skills
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills with experience with groups with the ability to listen and solve complex problems
  • Complete buy-in and commitment to the company’s values, business strategy and directions
  • Ability to develop talent – both as individuals and teams. Strong coaching ability. Commitment to hiring and retaining the best and acting on marginal performance
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data. Engineering knowledge is a plus
  • Working knowledge of human resources processes
  • Deep knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong understanding of computers and ERP Software

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering is preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience
    • 15+ years in production and manufacturing management
    • Proven success in a managerial role with a strong track record of leadership abilities and of delivering operational results
    • Critical thinking and problem solving abilities
