RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan routes, and make changes when necessary to optimize time/cost and potential growth. Do weekly payroll for transport drivers and audit pay sheets for accuracy. Audit and sign for any invoices pertaining to the transportation department. Set expectations and goals within the limits of the contract for the transport drivers. Perform weekly safety meetings to increase levels of awareness of the importance of safe operating procedures. Formulate contractual bids by route and oversee the bidding process to assign drivers to specific routes abiding by the contract. Hire and terminate employees as needed to keep the department running efficiently. Train new employees on standards operating procedures (SOPs) and safe work practices. Monitor the workforce to ensure that all company rules/policies and regulations are being followed. Enforce progressive discipline and keep accurate employee files.
